Since its inception in 1996, National Payroll Week has raised public awareness of the valuable work payroll professionals perform every day. Founded by the American Payroll Association, this unique campaign brings together key business leaders, local and national media and dedicated employees from payroll and related industries to celebrate every worker’s favorite day – payday.

The campaign recognizes how the payroll industry contributes to the strength of our nation’s economy and how the payroll withholding system supports such vital programs as Social Security and Medicare. It reminds citizens how payroll professionals collect and report an estimated $1.4 trillion per year – that’s 71% of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury – and how those payroll professionals work to ensure that paychecks are accurate and on time.

What’s more, this special celebration helps build awareness of key issues facing businesses and workers in America. National Payroll Week initiatives track industry trends and educate employers and employees on payroll-related issues.

Our Acadiana Chapter will be celebrating National Payroll Week by honoring the payroll professionals in our area on September 10, 2009 at Gator Cove in Lafayette, LA.  We will have a night of networking, appetizers and door prizes donated by local sponsors.
